After arriving at the Lijiang airport, we will pick you up and take
you to Shuhe, a quaint Naxi village, that is less touristy than
Lijiang. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the village and
resting.
Day 2: Treking from Lashihai Lake to Yangyuchang village
We will take a private van from Shuhe to LaShiHai Lake, which is a
stopover point for many species of migratory birds. From here, we will
embark on 5 to 6 hour hike up the mountains, passing through
old-growth forests, a small spring, and a grazing area nicknamed "The
Roman Coliseum." We will continue on to YangYu Chang, a small village
populated by Yi minority peoples and hemmed in by mountains on three
sides. After dinner and an optional Yoga session, we will spend our
first night here.
We will begin trekking through another high-altitude old-growth forest
(where some trees are more than 500 years old!), passing rhododendrons
and other flowering trees, en route. We will rest atop a small peak
(3,800m) and enjoy some lunch, while watching the locals graze yaks.
From here, we will continue down to WenHai Lake (3,100m). It will be
like opening a door to another world, such a quiet peaceful place. If
the weather is clear, we will be treated to spectacular views of the
nearby Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,500m+). There are a handful of
villages that surround the lake, which we can stroll through at out
leisure. We will spend the night at a modern guesthouse, complete with
hot showers and a delicious meal.
Day 4: Trekking from Wenhai Lake to Qianmu Grasslands
Today is the most strenuous day. We will hike to 4,000m, to the very
foot of the first major peak of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. If it's
not too windy, we will stop for lunch at the QianMu Grasslands and
take in the sweeping vistas to the east and west, and the hanging
glaciers above us. We will descend through pine forests to our camping
ground, alongside a small river flowing straight down from the
mountains.
Day 5: Trekking from River Campsite to ShangHai Village
We will continue hiking down to SnowFlower Village (XueHua Cun),
another Yi agricultural village that primarily grows potatos and
buckwheat. We will enjoy fresh bread for lunch and a chat with the
village headmaster, before continuing our trek. We will follow the
river east before passing over a small mountain peak, picking fresh
pears and walnuts along the way. Here, we will be treated to our first
views of the Yangtse River, know here as the JinSha River. We will
cross over a few small streams, and arrive at ShangHai village
(2,500m) in the late afternoon. This village is populated by the Naxi
people, and thanks to their tobacco fields, is moderately more
prosperous.
Day 7: Trekking the Tiger Leaping Gorge
This morning, we will continue trekking up over the 28 Bends, the most
challenging section of trail. Here, we will officially enter the
gorge, in all its majesty! Steep limestone cliffs drop several
thousands meters to the raging rapids of the JinSha River below. We
will continue along the trail at a comfortable pace, taking our time
to savor the gorge. In the afternoon, we will arrive at a mountain
lodge, which boasts a terrace and bathrooms (it's true!) with the
nicest views in the world. And, their apple pie is delicious.

Day 8: Trekking the Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Today, we will trek along path carved into the cliffs, through a
waterfall and past a temple dedicated to the Buddhist Goddess of
Mercy. We will continue down to the main road, and then further down
to the very bottom of the gorge (something which most hikers don't
have the opportunity to do). We will stand atop a massive boulder in
the narrowest part of the gorge as the river surges violently past us
and marvel at its splendor. Finally, we will return to the road
following a different route, with an opportunity to climb the "Sky
Ladder," for those brave enough.
Day 9 trek from Tiger leaping gorge to haba village.
We will take horse to trek 6 hours up around Yangzi river to Haba village, also we can take van, on the way we will pass Sanba village of Naxi tribe, and also Tibetan village, this area is the most beautiful part of Yangzi river. We will arrive Haba, the most beautiful village under the Haba snow mountain; we will stay in a local guesthouse which has fire in the kitchen an electricity blanket on bed.
Day 10 Haba village trek to visit etnic tribes.
Trek 4-5 hours around Haba village, visit 5 different ethnic villages, includes: Mountain Yi, Muslin,Naxi,Tibet tribes. Come
back, we will have lunch with their family, back stay in a local hostel.
Day 11 take bus Back Lijiang, Departure from Lijiang

We will wake early and (hopefully!) be treated to spectacular views of
the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. In the morning, we will hike to a small
cave, that is hallowed by locals for its holiness. We will return to
the village, before continuing down to LongPan village along the east
bank of the Yangtse River. A brief van ride will take us to the
entrance to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, and after a lunch of Szechuan
food, we will resume trekking. Our destination for tonight is only 1-2
hours away, the Naxi Family Guesthouse.
